The BSRT works in close association with the Berlin-Brandenburg Centre for Regenerative Therapies (BCRT), a joint initiative between one of Europe’s largest university hospitals, the Charité and Germany’s largest research organization, the Helmholtz association. The BCRT offers a highly interactive research program with particular emphasis on research and clinical applications related to the musculoskeletal system and the immune systems, aspects of regenerative medicine which are most advanced at the Charité and furthest in the development of clinical applications. The BCRT will also focus on regenerative therapies concerning the cardiovascular system, and the nervous system. The aim of the BCRT is to:
- Develop an internationally visible center of excellence in Regenerative Medicine with a focus on targeted cell differentiation for promoting endogenous tissue regeneration
- Translate scientific discoveries into regenerative therapies
- Share generated scientific knowledge in Regenerative Medicine with researchers, clinicians, and the public through educational activities, training, publications, and communication forums at national and international level.
